The Positivity QAL - Sponsors

The Positivity Quilt-Along (QAL) begins on Sunday, May 30, 2021.

While you wrap up your current projects, clean the bobbins, pick up the stray pins and change the blade in your rotary cutters, I am busy writing the tutorial and debating (sometimes silently) layout options.

Here are the gifts/prizes we have gleefully secured for the Positivity QAL. Kudos to the sponsors!!!

LEVEL 1 (Flimsy)
All QAL participants (anywhere in the world) who link up their finished flimsies will be entered to win one of the following four Level 1 prizes
1. One PDF pattern of your choice from Cynthia of Quilting is More Fun than Housework
2. One PDF pattern of your choice from Jayne of Twiggy and Opal
3. One PDF pattern of your choice from Denise of For the Love of Geese
4. One PDF pattern of your choice from Debby of Quilter by Design
5. One PDF pattern of your choice from Melanie of Mell Meyer

One grand prize is "Quilting by Joy".  This is a very special prize open to those US residents who are comfortable with piecing and wish to participate in the QAL but do not (or cannot) quilt.  The winner will send the finished flimsy (plus backing and binding) to Joy for quilting.

Joy is also providing the batting. Read Joy's post. After quilting, Joy will send it to Bernie, who will bind it.

If you are a piecer but not a quilter, and do not win the grand prize, Alycia and Rebecca are offering a discount on their quilting services, for the Positivity QAL.  Please contact them directly for pricing and turnaround times. You will still be responsible for binding and shipping.

LEVEL 2 (Quilt)
All QAL participants (in the US) who send their completed quilts to Bernie will be entered to win one of the Level 2 prizes
1. One fabric bundle from Needle and Foot
2. West Palm Fat Quarter Bundle from Art Gallery Fabrics
3. Mystical Land Fat Quarter Bundle from Art Gallery Fabrics
4. Geometric Bliss Fat Quarter Bundle from Art Gallery Fabrics
5. One $25 Gift Card from Hancock's of Paducah

If you are a quiltmaker in the US and need assistance with shipping costs, please reach out to Bernie through this Contact Form.  Thanks to a generous (anonymous) donor, we can offer "Reimbursement of Shipping Costs" to three quilters, after the quilt has reached Bernie.

If you wish to participate in the QAL, but live outside the US, you are welcome. We are thrilled that you are joining us.  We urge that you find a worthy cause locally. Please do not ship internationally. It is expensive and there is no guarantee when or whether it will reach its intended destination.  Although you will not be eligible for the  Level 2 Prizes, you can still win one of the Level 1 Prizes.

If you have questions, please ask and I will respond in the comments.

Since I am fully vaccinated, I did what I have been meaning to do for over a year. I met and hugged fully vaccinated friends.  I lunched with Sylvia in Pennsylvania and had dinner with Manveen in Maryland.

With Sylvia in Pennsylvania

With Manveen in Maryland

I drove for a total of eight hours on Saturday. But it was totally worth it!!!
All I now need is a day at the spa. Hope Paul reads this post :-D

As usual, I'd love to hear from you.

  1. Great prizes for a worthy cause! I’ll try my best to find time to participate!

  2. Will do my best to lend a helping hand!

  3. My pile of fabric is waiting! Love seeing you back out with your buddies, too! Have a wonderful day!

  4. Thanks for the notice of the QAL. I like your RSC blocks. That big polka dot (center of the third block) has popped up in different colorways in other photos recently. And in my stash.

  5. Yay for all of these wonderful prize sponsors!!

Also, just a thought - if a quilter chooses to send out a flimsy to Alycia or Rebecca, we could work together on the logistics. Maybe the long armer could send me the quilt and binding. It would save on shipping, as opposed to sending it back to the quilter and then having to ship it out to me? I bet we can figure something out!!
Thanks Preeti - your kind soul never ceases to amaze me!!!

  6. It was clear that you and your friends were happy to see each other in person finally. We went to a family graduation celebration over the weekend. It was so good to see them.

  7. Looking forward to joining in, whether there are prizes or not! So glad you were able to spend time with friends, too.

  8. Your RSC blocks are beautiful! Yay for spending time with friends. We have been catching up with ours over the last 10 days or so.

  9. I am sure this QAL is going to be a huge success! Hanging with others who are fully vaccinated has been a long time coming!

  10. Oh how fun to meet up with your friends!! I bet it was a great time! and the Quilt a long - I am ready! This will be fun!!

  11. We just returned from FLYING to visit Family who were celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary. Whew, what a big step. Feeling good about being vaccinated. Now to plan my Positivity quilt fabrics!

  12. Aren't hugs wonderful? In mid April I drove to Maryland to see a friend who is moving in a couple of months. As I left I said we need a hug. Her response was other than her hubby, she hadn't hugged anyone in over a year. We had to do it twice and it felt so good. Looks like you are getting a lot done on your quilt along. Looking forward to joining in.

  13. Beautiful red blocks for a rainbow quilt. Meeting and Hugging friends is all we are dreaming for so long. So glad for you.
The quilt a long will be fun, and I am looking forward to joining in.
    Have a wonderful weekend,Preeti.

  14. I hope you gets lots of participants making quilts for such a good cause. Being fully vaccinated has certainly given me the confidence to get out and see folks more now. Those blocks are perfect for some serious scrap busting.

  15. Love your red star blocks. I hope to join in with the quilt along - just need to finish up a couple of things first.

  16. Fun RED fabrics in your RSC blocks Preeti! What a great bunch of prizes you were able to gather for the QAL. SEW pleased to be able to contribute!!

  17. Your red blocks are great! I think your positivity quilt will get many takers. I can't participate right now but will enjoy others' quilts. My girlfriends and I got to all hug this weekend, special because another old friend was in town. We so enjoyed those hugs!

  18. Great prizes for the quiltalong, wow!
Glad you got in some in-person friend endorphins.
Was there a spa day after all? :)

  19. So wonderful you could get together with friends! Your blocks look great. Good luck on your quilt along! Sounds like fun. Thanks for sharing on Wednesday Wait Loss.
