    Mell: Especially skinny dipping :-)
    Me: Especially that.
Mell: It is going to be a long hot summer :-D

Mark your calendars for linky party dates. If you have to tend to your tomatoes or attend a skinny dipping party, adjust accordingly :-)

Questions? Sure. Ask away. I will answer in comments :-)

  1. Is this a free quilt along? Is there a pattern that needs to be purchased?

    Thanks.

    1. Bobbie, this is a free QAL. No purchase required. It is our hope that folks will quilt along and donate to the Mercyful Quilts or to other worthy causes near them.

  2. I appreciate your long and relaxed time frame, Preeti! I'm kind of a pokey quilter, so that works for me!

  3. Skinny dipping? Hmmm... I was thinking more like enjoying some margaritas on the porch?!

  5. What an awesome quilt along idea. I'm an advocate for a slow schedule. Who knows, people might opt to make more than one to send to Bernie!

  6. I love this timing, slow schedule works for me too ;)

  7. I have to correct myself - 12 blocks a week is not a "very slow" QAL. But I think it is slow enough since they look fairly simple. I hope lots of people join you and this fun cause - and that we will hear many tales of skinny dipping :))

  8. No skinny dipping in this part of the world unless I can find a heated swimming pool 😂😂

  9. Glad the "start" Is 5/30. I was afraid I would miss it. Vacation coming up to the ocean--no skinny dipping though :-) Too COLD yet here in the PNW

  13. Skinny dipping? Of course the first thought that pops into my mind is our neighborhood community pool, and the angry complaints that would be lodged with the Homeowners' Association... ;-)

    1. Dear Unknown, My name is Preeti. What is your name?

The pattern for the plus blocks is available free for all. The layouts and the fabric requirements will be provided also free for all. No registration or purchase required.

To be able to win any of the prizes, you will need to have a blog/Instagram account. I need to be able to see your finished flimsy to enter you into the drawing. And only completed quilts that reach Mercyful Quilts are eligible for the final prize.

  15. Like Roseann, I just discovered that I haven't received any of your posts since late April. Did you change email notice providers due to the Google announcement? I'll backtrack to catch up because I don't want to miss the QAL posts.

  17. I'm super behind on blogs but I'm so relived to see that I haven't missed this QAL!! Not sure I'll make a quilt big enough to send to Bernie & Mercy Quilts, but I promise that whatever I make will go to a good cause.

PS I have a list of life goals, kind of like a bucket list, and skinny dipping is on it! I haven't crossed it off yet ;)

  18. Hi Preeti! As I'm finalizing my fabric choices, it made me wonder if there were any specifics regarding our choices. Obviously it should be 100% quilting cottons but what about color or print?

    1. Susie, since we don't know who will receive the quilt, it is my suggestion that we use colors/prints that have a general appeal. For example, using too much pink or too many floral prints will make it too girly. Using too many baby prints will make it too juvenile.
However these are just suggestions. Make what you like and work with fabrics that make you happy. If you make a girly quilt, it will make some girl (or girl at heart) very happy. You know that the universe works in magical ways...connecting us to what/whom we need.
