Meet Cute

I am thrilled to present Meet Cute. This is my second project for Moda Bake Shop and I am very happy about it.

Meet Cute
Unlike Esmeralda which was not for the faint-hearted, Meet Cute is easygoing and very adaptable.

Simple Block - 17.5" square

Large and simple block finishes at 17.5" square. This means that you only need 4 blocks for a baby quilt (36" square).  This lap quilt uses 12 blocks and finishes at about 53" by 70".

There are no seams to match, which makes it a an easy beginner project. Or a speedy one for more experienced quilt makers.

Backing - Moda Grunge Hits the Spot (Pool)

You can make it from charm squares, or jelly rolls, or layer cakes, and scraps too.

Have I sold it enough?

Well then, go check out the complete tutorial here.

Here are some more pictures.

Walking Foot Quilting

Does this look familiar? Of course, it does. It is the same pattern as Playing Footsie, but made with Moda (Grunge Hits the Spot) fabrics.

Don't  think so

You are in

Of course, some fabrics did not make the cut. Fabrics that were too light were set aside, because they would make a poor contrast against the white background.

ooh Texture!!!

Labeled

I wanted to call it Playing Footsie, but that is too risqué a name for the gentlefolk at Moda, hence the change in name - Meet Cute.

Sweet Meet Cute
I even managed to borrow some super-cute models for the photoshoot.

Thank you, dear model!!!

Isn't she a natural?

When I showed this quilt to my quilt guild members, there were oohs and aahs but when I mentioned the name Meet-Cute, most ladies had a question mark on their face. I had to explain.

If you are wondering what is Meet Cute, here is Wikipedia to the rescue.

  3. Very pretty! Easily made in many sizes, too. I can see this becoming a go-to for a baby quilt or donation quilt. Good for your second publication, my famous friend!

  6. Meet Cute is just too cute! I love the dots and you can't go wrong with Grunge either. A beautiful bright quilt that looks like so much fun to make! Congrats again Preeti!

  7. Love it! When I saw Preeti Harris in my MBS email, I was like, wait, what, she did ANOTHER?! Had to go look at the definition you provided (I live under a rock, remember). I saw that Moda Grunge polka dot fabric at the LQS in Port Charlotte and thought it was pretty cool; love it in your quilt. Now what are you going to do with those pretty pastels?!

  8. What a great quilt. I like how you made it with the charm packs. I’m going to either use my scraps or dig around for some good coordinating yardage!

  10. Great quilt (I happen to love the Grunge fabrics - solids and dots). And I am so very happy to read that the GoFundMe goal for Axel was met -- that's awesome (and in no small part to your efforts).

  18. Footsie is too risque? Time to rattle their cage Preeti and bring them to date. You do know I WILL spend the rest of the afternoon playing around with quilt titles with all sorts of double entendres? And it will be all your fault when I get nothing done?

  19. It's a beautiful quilt Preeti, and I *love* the Grunge dots! Great job! (I need to book those models for a future photo shoot) :)

  20. This quilt is beautiful! I like the turquoise binding and backing too! Could you please amend your post to include a link to http://Smallquiltsanddollquilts.blogspot.com? I am happy that people link with Design Wall Mondays, and it makes it so easy to visit all the blogs if you all provide a link back to my blog so we can move on to the next design wall. Thank you so much, Judy

  22. Beautiful quilt, Preeti! And I'm smitten with your very professional looking machine stitched binding. I've never sewn a quilt binding completely by machine but I want to try it on Tabby Mountain -- and I want mine to look perfect like yours does! Do you have a machine binding tutorial that you've written, or one that you can recommend? Also, I chuckled that "playing footsie" is too risque... I guess the next quilt cannot be titled "I'll Show You Mine If You Show Me Yours!"

  23. Preeti, this quilt is just too adorable. The turquoise binding is perfect as is the backing fabric. Your little models are also cute. You're all over this Moda Bake Shop gig and I'm so happy for you! Moda is lucky to have you.

  24. I drool over those Grunge Dots every time I go to my local fabric store. I love what you did with them. Meet Cute. I was one of those people with the blank look, which is funny ‘cause I watch way more of those Hallmark movies than I should ever admit to. What adorable quilt models! And a perfect Bake Shop pattern!
