I have a new finish to share. I am so proud of this one.
Not because this was a difficult pattern, but because these are not my favorite colors.
Once upon a time, long ago, when I was just dipping my toes into quilting and patchwork, I noticed yellow and gray quilts everywhere (not my favorite colors). It was a modern movement (and I wanted to belong).
I bought two FQ bundles - Gray Matters Mixed and Gray Matters Yellow. I fell in love with this Orange quilt from Cluck Cluck Sew. I cut the fabric and even came up with a cutting diagram for fat quarters to minimize waste.
This quilt is like sunshine peeking through grey clouds and I will be sharing with all my favorite linky parties (see sidebar for full list).
Paul - This is nice. What is the name of this one?
Me: I have decided to call it Axel.
Paul: Who is Axel?
Me: A super-hero.
Paul: A super-hero? I know all the super-heroes.
Me: Aha. He is new to the scene.
So who is Axel?
Axel is Amy's little boy, who blogs at AmyScrapSpot. Axel is the sunshine boy who is just under four months old and he continues to shine through the grey clouds.
So that Axel can continue to fight and shine, I need your help. This brings me to the giveaway.
The purpose of this giveaway is to encourage you to donate to Axel's GoFundMe page so that he can have the sunny future that so many of us take for granted.
Everyone who makes a $10 donation will be entered to win one the following prizes. If you make a $20 donation, you get two entries. Similarly, a $30 donation qualifies you for three entries, and so on. You get it. Here are the prizes.

2. A pattern of your choice from Kelly Young of My Quilt Infatuation (2 prizes)

If you are quilter/blogger, you get an extra entry for sharing a link to Axel's GoFundMe page on your blog.
If you have already donated, you will be entered into the giveaway. If you want to donate but do not wish to be entered into the giveaway, I understand.
Most importantly, I am so thankful to Sandra, Bernie, Jeni, Kelly, Erica and Cynthia who have generously sponsored the prizes.
Me: The superhero Axel needs you to dispel the darkness.
Paul: Really? I get to dispel the darkness?
Me: Yes, and be a super-hero too.
Paul: Consider it done, babe!!!
Paul donated to Axel's cause and I am so proud of him. But we still have ways to go.

You are AWESOME! I do love the quilt. It came out just beautiful. I sincerely hope your efforts are well rewarded. With a story like this, the GoFundMe account should already be double the small amount that was requested. Quilters can make magic happen!
ReplyDeletePreeti, What a generous giveaway!!! You have such a kind heart. This little guy is definitely in for a rough road and no child (or mom and dad) deserve that. It is awesome to see the community rally to help them financially. I am happy to contribute both to the GFM campaign and your promotion of it.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I LOVE the quilt. It is really pretty and the analogy you created with the clouds and sunshine is lovely. You are a very good writer.
Your quilt came out beautifully - and I love the reason you named it. THanks for letting us know aout this little guy
ReplyDeleteYour gray and yellow quilt is beautiful! Great job, esp. considering that's not your fav color combo.
ReplyDeleteIt's amazing how quickly funds add up at just $10/donation. I'm going to Axel's GFM page right now!
Love the quilt, and the cause. Just went to GFM and donated $10., every little bit helps I hope.
ReplyDeleteI don't have a blog, but my email is: mdsmje@hotmail.com
LOOK at you go girl! When you first talked to me, it was me and Bernie... and NOW! YAY! Angel spreading her eternal love over Axel through you. :-)
ReplyDeleteOops forgot to say I love your quilt too! That backing is such a burst of you!
DeleteThis is an awesome quilt. The grey and yellow are wonderful together. That backing fabric is amazing.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful quilt and what a fantastic giveaway you've put together. I donated before you posted this - but you don't need to put me in the giveaway pool. I hope your efforts and those of others who are sharing Axel's story help raise LOTS of money for his family's needs.
ReplyDeleteA beautiful finish for such a good cause.
ReplyDeleteA beautiful quilt Preeti, I love the yellow and grey, not grellow, because that is just one colour and there are many different yellows in this. Generous of you too and I hope the fund goes well.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful quilt! Love the pop of green binding.
ReplyDeleteI love that you are doing this for Axel! And I always enjoy your little dialogues with Paul. :-)
ReplyDeleteI think your quilt is gorgeous. I love the sunny rays of yellow against the grey. I really love the combination. You are pretty amazing and that shouldn't go without being said!
ReplyDeleteYour quilt is fabulous, I still love yellow and grey and have been thinking of doing another but just haven't hit on the right pattern. You might have given me an idea;)
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing this Preeti. As for the quilt...I love how you brightened up the backing.
ReplyDeleteVery pretty quilt, both with colors and fabrics!
ReplyDeleteAxel is a super hero and you are a great cheerleader!!
ReplyDeleteI love your quilt, it's bright and happy, and the binding and backing are perfect. And, I second what The Joyful Quilter said.
ReplyDeleteSo wonderful of you to sponsor a giveaway that will help little super Axel. Love your quilt.
ReplyDeleteThat is a beautiful quilt! It's funny that you aren't excited by the colors, because I absolutely love them. I have made a lot of yellow/grey quilts and I could easily make more! And how sweet of you to help your friend out. xoxo
ReplyDeletePreeti, I love your analogy of the grey and yellow quilt looking like sunshine peeking through the clouds. What a fun thought.
ReplyDeleteYou are an angel here on earth - I hope you reach a lot of people for little Axel.
What a beautiful quilt! I remember the yellow and grey.....I have a bag that I made with those colors!
ReplyDeletePreeti, such a wonderful idea to post about Axel's Go Fund Me page. I've known Amy for a while through blogging and her pregnancy with Axel. She is an awesomely strong woman! Axel carries her strength too! I have donated through your link and thanks for letting us know!
