I will be receiving my goodies next week and the Unboxing post (and video) is scheduled for 1/23/24. Won't you come back then?
I do have a new quilt to share. Meet Prismatic.
Made entirely with Island Batik Solids, Prismatic finished at 48" square and can play the dual role of a baby-going-to-be-a-toddler quilt or a small lap quilt.
All things Bold & Bright |
On a cold, soggy and dreary day, we quilters have plenty of bright fabrics to lift our spirits. I had some solids left over from making the quilt top. I chose to make a pieced backing.
Playing with Scraps |
The backing is Frosting and it is a beautiful floral neutral. Let me show you a close-up.
The quilting is my favorite squiggly lines using my walking foot. The binding is Solid Light Grey.
If you'd like to make Prismatic, you can get the pattern in my Etsy Store. It includes colored graphics, step by step directions and a coloring sheet too. Prismatic is on sale (20% off) till Tuesday, 1/16/24.
What is a pattern release without a giveaway? So if you'd like a copy of the Prismatic Quilt pattern, please leave me a comment on this blogpost, mentioning the favorite book (and author) you read in 2023. If you show up as Anonymous, please include your email so that I can reach you.
Update - The winners are Sara (#2) and Elizabeth (#21).
Emails have been sent.
Hope you stay safe, warm and dry.
congrats - enjoy your big box of goodies
ReplyDeleteWow! Congrats to being an ambassador with Island Batik again! Prismatic is really delightful, with such a fun back. My favorite author from 2023 - it's hard to choose. But I read the whole Kay Scarpetta series by Patricia Cornwell in 2023.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on being an ambassador this year. Love your Prismatic quilt, brights with a dark background is such a great combo. I read several really good books in 2023, not sure I can pick just one.
ReplyDeleteCOngrats on being an ambassador!!! Prisms is really pretty!
ReplyDeletePrismatic is beautiful, Preeti! I love the bright color against the black background. I read a lot of books in 2023 - I think my favorite was The Stationery Shop, by Marjan Kamali. Thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteHi Preeti, your quilting with a squiggly line is so effective! If you have the chance, please link up later this week on Free Motion Mavericks - walking foot quilting counts as FMQ in my book. Congrats on the renewed ambassadorship and your newest pattern!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on being selected as an ambassador again for 2024; it's always a treat to see how you use the Island Batik fabric. And Prismatic is lovely. My most favorite read was The Last List of Mabel Beaumont by Laura Pearson (but please pick someone else if I happen to be randomly selected in the giveaway). <3

ReplyDeleteLove Prismatic! Such clean lines. And your back is very fun! I deleted my previous comment so I could add a favorite book from 2023. I listen to a lot of audio books as I quilt, so here are a few: A Gentleman in Moscow by Amor Towles, Tom Lake by Ann Patchett, Lessons in Chemistry by Bonnie Garmus. Thank you Libby that keeps track of the books I borrow from the library!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your selection again as an ambassador. Love your latest quilt. My favorite book was The Thursday Murder Club by R. Osman. I am on his third book now!!!!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on the Ambassadorship! I don't think I could keep up with the production requirements, but you hit it out of the ball park!
ReplyDelete'Prismatic' is just what this cold, wet, gray weather needs.
I read a lot but nothing specific comes to mind. Lots of empowered women in my library. I'll save room on my shelf for YOUR story.
Love your bright quilt! My favorite book from 2023 was “The Fear of Too Much Justice,” by my best friend Stephen Bright and James Kwak. It’s a non-fiction book which describes the problems with the criminal legal system in the US. So not an easy or light book. I loved it because it’s so well written, and though written by two very talented lawyers and law professors, it’s very much written for lay people. And I’m so proud of and happy for my friend for finishing his book. I hope lots of people read it, though I know it’s hard for many people to read. It covers so much difficult and sad material.

Bravo for being an Ambassador again! Lovely new quilt, and I love the creative backing too. Beautiful green batiks, it's going to be a beautiful new RSC block!
ReplyDeleteCongrats, Preeti. I love your imaginative and thoughtful quilts. I have been reading the Robert Galbraith series of books on Inspector Gamash lately and also have been rereading Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time series. I love both authors and cannot pick out a favourite book between them!!
ReplyDeleteIt's always a treat to see what you make with your Island Batik fabrics, and I look forward to your new projects. Prismatic is so dynamic! You have some beautiful green scraps to use for the RSC.
ReplyDeletePrismatic would be welcome here in dreary upstate New York! I'd love to win a copy!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite book in 2023 was Love in the Time of Bertie by Alexander McCall Smith 'cause I love Bertie's spirit, and well, it's fun to dispise Irene.

ReplyDeleteP.S. I like the Prismatic variation of Patience Corner -- the HST adds zing! And great use of leftovers in the pieced back.
ReplyDeletePrismatic is certainly a lovely bright spot on a drab day!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on being an ambassador again! Love your bright and cheerful Prismatic, both sides. Congrats on being featured in the Norwegian Quilt magazine as well!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations and hope you have lots of fun being an ambassador. Prismatic is fun and lively. My favorite read recently was Mrs. Lincoln's Dressmaker by Jennifer Chiaverini
ReplyDeletePrismatic is a lovely quilt. I think you're right about it being perfectly sized for dual purpose...either a nice lap quilt or a quilt for a baby moving into toddlerhood. I like the bright, bold color palette you chose for your quilt.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on 'making the cut' and Prismatic is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on being an ambassador this year! I look forward to following your creative quilty adventures! Prismatic is such a cheerful quilt. I'm in a non-fiction, autobiographical phase, but I enjoyed Making It So : A Memoir by Patrick Stewart, Spare by Prince Harry, and I also reread several David Sedaris books.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations are definitely in order. You are certainly one productive ambassador for IB. Prismatic is so vibrant, just what we need during the dreary winter weather. You even managed to pull of a gorgeous backing!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations Preeti. Do I look at your blog for the beautiful quilts you make or the story you tell about each one?
ReplyDeleteI also read and liked Lessons in Chemistry,
The Thursday Murder Club, Beautiful Mystery (with Inspector Gamash) but the book I have thought most about is Ultra Processed People.
Pragmatic is so happy and bright! I love it. My favorite read of the year. . .that is a hard one as I've read many good ones in 2023! I'll go with Lessons in Chemistry by Bonnie Grams. I was surprised to learn this was her first book!
ReplyDeleteThat comment that starts with Pragmatic is so happy and bright. . .is mine! TerryK@OnGoingProjects
ReplyDeletePrismatic is gorgeous. I love the touch of fun on the back too. So much fun watching you as an ambassador and the fun quilts you come up with!
ReplyDeleteGreat job on Prismatic. I love the bright, bold colors. I was really interested in Heather Cox Richardson's new book Democracy Rising. She did a great job making her history book come alive. I would have gone with Lessons in Chemistry same as Terry but I read it in 2022. It was really an eye opener to me about how women were treated, and I bet in some cases still are. It's probably time for me to reread it... enjoy the snow coming out way. Eh!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun and bright quilt! Definitely a mood enhancer ;) And big congrats on making the cut for another year of Island Batik Ambassador! Looking forward to your choice of rainbow blocks. I considered the project for this year but decided against it due to too many things. I will live it through you ;) xo
ReplyDeleteGorgeous batiks - as always with Island Batiks. Breezy really catches my eye.
