Westfield Pattern Release & Giveaway

 Meet Westfield.

Two (too) handsome guys :-D

This handsome quilt made his appearance in make Modern's Issue 64 in May 2025.

Modeled by Paul, Picture by Preeti, Cover by Make Modern

Designed in EQ8, Westfield is made using the Island Batik collection Poetic Bouquet and is Layer-Cake Friendly. One pack of 10" squares plus 3.5 yards of background and he can be yours.

Westfield is now available as a standalone pattern in my Etsy Shop, available at a discount of 25%, that is just $9 but only till Wednesday, 9/3/25.

On my bed :-)

The pattern is easy to piece and comes with detailed instructions and colored graphics for every step. I have also included a blank coloring sheet so that you can audition your coloring choices.

Gorgeous!

But of course, there is a giveaway. Leave me a comment on this post, mentioning your favorite precut
(and why) and I will enter you in a contest to win a free PDF copy of the Westfield (or any other pattern from my Etsy shop). I will announce the winner next week.

Giveaway Update - The winner is #20. Email sent.

I will be sharing with Quilting Jetgirl's Favorite Finish and all my favorite linky parties. See full list on the sidebar.

In other news, I have completed the Turquoise/Aqua/Teal blocks for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge. Here they are. Will share with Angela's Linky Party on Saturday.

Niko

Have you met Niko

Niko

He is handsome and stylish. He is friendly to jelly rolls and he can be yours!

Niko was first published in Make Modern Issue 62, published in January 2025.

Published

Designed in EQ8 and made with the Island Batik collection Shadow Blooms, Niko finished at 60" by 84", making him suitable for TV time and naps on the couch. He is a perfect picnic partner and just as happy to go on car rides.

Finding Happiness

But Niko isn't just fun and games. He is also just right for charity quilts including Quilts of Valor.

Since Niko is jelly-roll friendly (which you already have) all you need is 2.5 yards of background fabric and you are in business. The step by step directions and colored graphics for every step ensure success.

Jelly-Roll Friendly

But what I like best about Niko is this - simple blocks come together to make a fun secondary pattern. Dancing Pinwheels remind me that we are better when we are together. The elongated Granny Square like negative space also offers room to show off your quilting design.

Dancing Pinwheels

Niko is now available as a standalone pattern in my Etsy Shop. Marked at $12, Niko is on sale for just $9 till May 8, 2025.

Labelled

But wait there is more. Leave me a comment on this blogpost to be entered into a giveaway contest for a downloadable PDF copy of the Niko Quilt Pattern. I will announce the two winners on May 8, 2025.

UPDATE - The two winners are #7 (Jocelyn) and #27 (Jan). Emails are on the way.

What are you waiting for?

What is happening on May 8, 2025?

Island Batik and Accuquilt have teamed to sponsor the Irish Chain BlogHop and Challenge beginning May 5 and I will be posting on May 8. I will be using this gorgeous collection - Fusion  by Jerry Khiev for Swan Amity Studios.

And one more thing. Angela has announced the Rainbow Scrap Challenge color for May. It is green and here is my fabric pull. All gorgeous greens are from Island Batik.

Garden City

A new year calls for a new pattern!
Meet Garden City.

Garden City

Designed in EQ8 and made using the Island Batik collection Shadow Blooms, Garden City is a layer-cake friendly quilt finishing at 64" by 88".

We chose a particularly cold and windy day to take pictures.

Backing is Aruba (Tantalizing Teals)

The collection includes Blues, Teals and Purples.  I used Egg White (Neutrals) as Background. The Backing is Aruba (Tantalizing Teals). I used Hobbs Thermore Batting.

Hi Handsome!

Walking Foot Quilting

To make Garden City, you will need just one Layer Cake and 4.5 yards of Background fabric.  The pattern is available in my Etsy Store. It includes colored graphics and step by step directions. Garden City is on sale (25% off) till Wednesday, 1/15/25.

What is a pattern release without a giveaway? So if you'd like a copy of the Garden City Quilt pattern, please leave me a comment on this blogpost, mentioning the favorite book (and author) you read in 2024.  If you show up as Anonymous, please include your email so that I can reach you.

I will announce two winners next week.
1/19/2025 Update - The two random numbers are #1 and #13.
#1 - Carolyn, you are a no-reply blogger. Please contact me at sewpreetiquilts at gmail so that I can send you your pattern.
#13 - GranChris - Email sent.

In other news, Island Batik has announced the slate of ambassadors for 2025. Slashing the number from 26 to just 22, the competition was even tougher this year. Many applicants did not make it. I am thrilled (and relieved) that I made the cut.

We have received our first box of supplies. I will share the Unboxing video and blogpost next week. But here is sneak peek.

I will be participating in the Rainbow Scrap Challenge. Angela has announced that January is Pink. Here are my selected pinks (Island Batik fabrics).

I am working on my January RSC 2025 blocks. Will show you when I post next time, along with the Unboxing video. Sharing with Angela's and all my other favorite linky parties. See full list on the sidebar.

Hope you stay safe, warm and dry.

Diva

Do you remember Diva?

Designed in EQ8, Diva was published in Make Modern Issue 58. Now, she is available as a standalone pattern in my Etsy Shop.

I made Diva using the Vintage Charm collection, combined with Island Batik Solids in Red, Orange, Yellow and Fuchsia. The focus fabric strip sets were scraps leftover from making Kashvi, but there is nothing scrappy about Diva!

Finishing at 51" by 68" she glides in royal splendor. And although you may think that she is set in her ways, she is very adaptable. I encourage you to take a look at the various color options.

I quilted with my trusted walking foot using my favorite squiggly stitch. The binding is Island Batik Solid Fuchsia.

Some of you are likely to believe that she may be extravagant and she does look resplendent in those rich colors. But the truth is that Diva is very affordable. The pattern is $10 and is available at a 25% discount till September 3, 2024. If you act quickly she can be yours for under $8!!!

In fact, Diva is so persuasive that all patterns in my Etsy Store are 25% off on account of Labor Day Sale. But wait there is more. Two lucky winners can get Diva Quilt Pattern for free. Just leave me a comment on this blogpost, making sure that I have a way to reach you. I will pick the winners next week.

Update - The two winners are Comments #8 and #19. Emails have been sent.

The theme of Island Batik September Challenge and BlogHop is Adventurous Applique, co-sponsored by Aurifil Threads. I will be working with the Geometric Symphony Collection.

Here is a sneak peek :-) I will be posting on September 17.

I will be sharing with all my favorite linky parties. See full list on the sidebar. As usual I'd love to hear from you!

Aurelia

Aurelia was published in Make Modern Issue #56.

Aurelia is now available in my Etsy Shop as a standalone pattern.  It is a detailed pattern with 8 pages of step by step instructions including a coloring page.
I am offering a 25% discount till Friday, April 5, 2024.

Designed in EQ8, Aurelia uses Island Batik fabrics from two collection. The blues came from the Porcelain Blue collection and the Purples are from the Morris Mist collection.

Aurelia finished at 60" by 84". Not my usual colors, nevertheless I am thrilled with this finish.

Blue Skies, Breezy Day

For background I chose Egg White (Island Batik Neutral) and Island Batik Solid Black.

I used Fondant (Island Batik Neutrals) for Backing. The Binding is Powder Blue (Brilliant Blues).

I chose a variegated thread and quilted using my walking foot with my favorite squiggly lines.

We took it out for pictures. I had a fun time, shooting with the polar bear :-) climbing up on a short wall at a roundabout, till the security guard asked me to step down. I apologized sincerely and got down immediately. We had already taken the pictures ;-P

Thank you Polar Bear!

It was a breezy day and Paul held the quilt in place atop the polar bear, discreetly hiding in the shadows, while I took the picture.

For the next pictures, I modeled and Paul photographed.

Fiery Tree Backdrop

I am in love with Aurelia. She has an ice-maiden vibe about her - regal and stunning. But I promise you she is very approachable. Here are a few close-ups.
