At 60" by 83", Nilsa can be a Mercyful Quilt. The pattern can also be used to make a Quilt of Valor.

I used the Island Batik collection - Blushing Garden to make Nilsa.
Have you seen Blushing Garden? It is a beautiful collection with my favorite colors - red, pink and gold. Even a bit of teal to brighten things up. They are beautiful and sunny!
It is Layer-Cake Friendly. If you have been just petting a layer cake for a while because there wasn't a suitable pattern for it, this is your chance. All you need is about 4 1/4 yards of background fabric. That will take care of all the background, borders and binding.

If you wish to use Blushing Garden, you are in luck. It is available in stores right now. For background, I recommend Egg White from the Island Batik Foundations.
If you'd rather use fabrics from your stash, that works perfectly too.

Nilsa Quilt Pattern has eight pages of detailed instructions complete with colored graphics, and a full-page Coloring Sheet. I have also provided step-by-step guidance for on-point setting, showing diagonal columns and how to attach setting triangles.

ReplyDeleteLove the new pattern. She is gorgeous. Our favourite side dish is Ambrosia salad, made with sour cream, mini marshmallows, mandarin oranges, pineapple tibits and coconut - more of a dessert dish, but it is served as a salad in our house!!

ReplyDeleteI love Nilsa, the reflecting colors dance across the quilt. My favorite side dish is an Amish Potato Stuffing my mother used to make (but we don't have it - butter and cream are not in my son's diet due to allergies - but I think about it every year!

What an amazing design! Love it! The colors are so happy! As far as a favorite side dish. . .for this year, it is my daughter's Brussel sprout salad. She peels the leaves from each sprout; chars them in olive oil in a wok, finishes them with the zest and juice from one lemon and a few toasted walnuts.--TerryK@OnGoingProjects

ReplyDeleteAnother stunning modern pattern from you, Preeti!! I'm curious; I know that AccuQuilt partners with Island Batik for the ambassadors. Have you incorporated AccuQuilt die instructions into this quilt or into any of your other patterns? The AccuQuilt setting triangle dies are really slick for anyone who struggles with them, and they come in a nice range of sizes that coordinate with their Qubes' block sizes. I used the 8" setting triangle die for my Deco quilt instead of following the pattern instructions, so I'll have straight grain on the outside edges of my quilt instead of bias like I'd have had if I followed the instructions. Anywho -- my favorite "side dish" is molasses pumpkin pie, if you can consider pie to be a side dish. I really think of the pie as the MAIN COURSE of my Thanksgiving, and the turkey is just one of the side dishes...
