Rosemary etc.

Rosemary came home on May 1. She is a short-haired almost all-black Bombay cat.

Rosemary

She is affectionate and agile. Loves to play, and often zooms around the house. Surprisingly, she is not interested in our food. She neither begs nor does she sniff our plates.

It has been a while since we had a third family member. After Jonesie passed away and Louie displayed misdirected aggression (and returned to the shelter), we had been a pet-free home for a few years.

When we spotted a mouse in the house on Easter, and the mousetraps did not work, it was time to bring home the beast. Since then we have seen neither hair nor hide of the mouse.

I firmly believe that the mouse was the universe's way of telling us - "Bring Rosemary home"

Here she is inspecting Bubbles and enjoying the perch from her condo.

Just curious...

I am so cool!

We managed to get away for a holiday weekend, saw some sights, ate good food, had some exhilarating moments (ziplining) and got sunburnt, while tubing in the Shenandoah River.

Yes, we did apply SPF50 cream, but the river water washed it away.

Island Batik's August Challenge requires us to decorate the carrying case of our Oliso Irons.  That blogpost is coming in August.

I am so naked...cover me please!

Stay tuned and stay hydrated.

  1. Looks like you had a good time up in the mountains... wasn't much cooler was it? (I was in Basye probably not far from where you were.) That is a cute little iron. I'm looking forward to seeing what you do to decorate it!

  2. Oh goodness, Rosemary is beautiful! I hope that her presence adds a delightful spark to life. We haven't been a family of 3 since early 2020 and the universe hasn't spoken yet... but I do have quite the collection of cats who know to say hello when I'm on my daily walks. :) Nature sure did get the memo about purple for July, and your blocks are just as delightful. Always lovely to check in with you. Hope you are well!

  4. I have not had a cat in years, we used to have them and that looks like a pretty one that you have. Such a nice vacation spot for fun in the water and out. Love all the fabric. I have that little iron it took awhile to get used to holding it I thought with the handle being so much part of it and not separate to get your whole hand around.

  5. Rosemary looks very sweet. Our daughter's cat is with us till the daughter finds a job. It's been an adjustment, it really is like having a toddler again. Your vacation looks like it was a lot of fun. Hope you get back to stitching this week, sounds like you have a few deadlines.

  8. It will be fun to see what kind of a quilter Rosemary becomes. Just keep your threads put away. I wish Crape Myrtle was hardy up here, but the deer would probably eat it anyway. They eat everything else. It looks like your getaway was enjoyable, if not exactly restful.

  10. Rosemary is lovely! She reminds me so much of my Zora who is also a Bombay. They can be quite the handful, but I adore her. Love your pretty little purple blocks. Thanks for sharing on my weekly show and tell, Wednesday Wait Loss.

  11. Hi Preeti, was Rosemary ok alone while you were gone? I know that cats are pretty independent. I'd love a cat but that would be the end of me - really bad allergies :-( Your purple blocks are lovely (as is Rosemary!) Thanks for linking up and good luck with all of your upcoming projects.

  13. Good luck with your new kitty - she is a beauty. I am glad the mouse is gone, we have some critter friends that I would like to see banished, but allergies prevent us from having a cat!
