Meet Yamini.
| Yamini |
Designed in EQ8 and made using Island Batik fabrics, Yamini is a jelly roll quilt finishing at 60" by 80". Yamini was first published in Make Modern Issue 65.
"If you’re after a fun showstopper of a quilt for a gift, this one is a perfect choice. Grab a jelly roll, pair it with a high contrast solid background fabric, and watch the magic happen!" - Make Modern Issue 65.
I love how the bright colors pop on a Solid Black background like night lights in a big city. The binding is also Solid Black. I used my Walking Foot to quilt squiggly lines.
Yamini Quilt Pattern is now available as a standalone pattern in my Etsy shop. Listed at $12, you can get it for just $9 (25% off) till Sunday, 11/23/25. The pattern is super-simple. Detailed instructions, with colored graphics for every step, it is a breeze to make Yamini. I have also included a Coloring Page so that you can audition your color choices.
What is a pattern release without a giveaway? So if you'd like a copy of the Yamini Quilt pattern, please leave me a comment on this blogpost and I will announce two winners on Monday, 11/24/25. If you show up as Anonymous, please include your email so that I can reach you.
If you need a prompt, you may share your favorite thing about Thanksgiving. Here is one of mine. On one of the long drives, returning home after celebrating Thanksgiving in Georgia, the following exchange happened
Paul - If I drive, the brakes will last longer.
Yamini on the banks of Potomac - Earth, Wind, Fire, Water & Sky
May your conversations be as sparkling. I will be sharing with all my favorite linky parties. See full list on the sidebar.
I bet this would make a great QOV and a great way to use up stash strips. SarahsGiftNShip at gmail dot com
ReplyDeleteGreat design and wonderful colorway!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! The black background fabric makes the colored fabrics zing!
ReplyDeleteYamini is sparkling! I love the way you always thank Paul for his help getting photos of your beautiful quilts :)
ReplyDeleteWow - beautiful quilt. Your thread color is perfect because it gives even more movement to the design. Great job!!
ReplyDeleteThis would be a great pattern to use some of my saved jelly roles. I have many lol. Lord’s willing, my house will be full of family and friends on Thanksgiving. I love when we take a moment to share what we are thankful for.
ReplyDeleteFavorite Thanksgiving memories: wonderful meal followed by perusing the Black Friday sales ads in the newspaper and coming up with a midnight plan with my DIL to hit the stores at just the right time! I don’t normally care for dark backgrounds on quilts, but it is just perfect for your quilt. I may have to reconsider that opinion! Wonderful design!
ReplyDeleteIt is a gorgeous quilt Preeti. You outdid yourself! Hum, Thanksgiving comment -- I'm always happy if we can get home down I-95 faster than we got to where we celebrate T-Day... I'm sure you understand that one!
ReplyDeleteLovely finish on this modern quilt, Preeti--beautiful color choices you made;))) hugs, Julierose
ReplyDeleteI like Earth, Wind, Fire, Water and Sky description! Our recent Thanksgivings have more friends than family- a wonderful mix.
ReplyDeleteLove the vibrancy of this quilt! You do such beautiful work!

I'm loving the citrus zing of this quilt. Good job.
ReplyDeleteThis year I am thankful for two friends who have survived severe medical problems, as well as family.
Another beautiful quilt! Even Bruce commented on how nice it was (he loves BRIGHT as much as we do!) I love the colors you used. I love the pattern so much!
ReplyDeleteQuilts with coloring pages delight me! Such a thoughtful addition. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteThis quilt is beautiful! Love the black background. Thanks for sharing. o diane 79 @ yahoo com
ReplyDeleteThe consistency of the four squares ties it all together. Is it easy to make Yamini larger? (Let's say 80 x 80?) Last year I was thankful for not cooking... ;=)
ReplyDeleteMy favorite thanksgiving is my son making tons of food, way too much! And then watching grandchildren playing road race game on his giant tv.
ReplyDeleteI think Yamini will make a great donation quilt.
You knocked it out of the ballpark with this one. The colors are excellent.
ReplyDeleteReally love this pattern. Striking!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great pattern! I too love the dark background against all those bright colors. My daughter decided she was going to make Thanksgiving dinner. . .she was excited. She set her menu, purchased the groceries, prepped and when she went to turn the oven on for cook the turkey, there was no power. Her oven was dead. Dinner was moved to our house. . .lucky we are half an hour away! Dinner was delicious and we still laugh at our Thanksgiving "on wheels."--TerryK@OnGoingProjects
ReplyDeleteHi, I normally like more old fashioned quilts/scrappy but I think this pattern would be nice in my scrappy fabrics or old fashioned floral prints jelly rolls that I have in my stash!
ReplyDeleteThis is so very beautiful 😻 ❤️❤️❤️❤️!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love pairing brights with black. Such a pretty quilt! Congrats on the new pattern. Thanks for sharing on my weekly show and tell, Wednesday Wait Loss.

What a beauty!!
ReplyDeleteAh, so our sweet Preeti has a lead foot! Apparently that is true behind the wheel of a car as well as on the pedal of the sewing machine, as you continue to churn out one beautiful quilt after another!
