Designed in EQ8 and made using Island Batik fabrics, Yamini is a jelly roll quilt finishing at 60" by 80". Yamini was first published in Make Modern Issue 65.

I love how the bright colors pop on a Solid Black background like night lights in a big city. The binding is also Solid Black. I used my Walking Foot to quilt squiggly lines.

ReplyDeleteThis would be a great pattern to use some of my saved jelly roles. I have many lol. Lord’s willing, my house will be full of family and friends on Thanksgiving. I love when we take a moment to share what we are thankful for.
ReplyDeleteFavorite Thanksgiving memories: wonderful meal followed by perusing the Black Friday sales ads in the newspaper and coming up with a midnight plan with my DIL to hit the stores at just the right time! I don’t normally care for dark backgrounds on quilts, but it is just perfect for your quilt. I may have to reconsider that opinion! Wonderful design!

Another beautiful quilt! Even Bruce commented on how nice it was (he loves BRIGHT as much as we do!) I love the colors you used. I love the pattern so much!

ReplyDeleteThe consistency of the four squares ties it all together. Is it easy to make Yamini larger? (Let's say 80 x 80?) Last year I was thankful for not cooking... ;=)

ReplyDeleteWhat a great pattern! I too love the dark background against all those bright colors. My daughter decided she was going to make Thanksgiving dinner. . .she was excited. She set her menu, purchased the groceries, prepped and when she went to turn the oven on for cook the turkey, there was no power. Her oven was dead. Dinner was moved to our house. . .lucky we are half an hour away! Dinner was delicious and we still laugh at our Thanksgiving "on wheels."--TerryK@OnGoingProjects
ReplyDeleteHi, I normally like more old fashioned quilts/scrappy but I think this pattern would be nice in my scrappy fabrics or old fashioned floral prints jelly rolls that I have in my stash!
